How should compliance testing work for an NBFC CCO?

We are building RegYantra Compliance Testing, a tool for Chief Compliance Officers of NBFCs. Before we finalise it, we want to learn from practising CCOs how testing is done today and what would genuinely help.

If you have shaped how compliance testing is done in your NBFC, we would value your view. Below you will find who we are, why we are building RegYantra and how this survey works.

Who we are

Human Thought to Technology

Yantra3Loka LLP is an AI and ML engineering studio based in Mumbai. Our name joins yantra (a tool) with loka (a realm): we take a problem, a workflow or an idea and engineer it into intelligent systems that deliver. We believe in shipping over theorising – every project we take on ends with working software, not a whitepaper – and we pick the right tool for the job, not the trendiest one.

What we build: AI agents and orchestration, retrieval and knowledge systems, data engineering and document extraction (including financial and compliance reports), full-stack deployment, AI infrastructure, and security and compliance engineering.

With RegYantra we bring that engineering to regulated financial services, working alongside the people who carry regulatory responsibility in Indian NBFCs.

Why RegYantra

RegYantra – a tool for regulatory compliance – is our platform for compliance and governance teams in NBFCs. Its first module is for Chief Compliance Officers, and its first capability is compliance testing.

The challenge

  • NBFC regulation was consolidated into Master Directions in November 2025 and continues to be amended, so knowing exactly what applies is a moving target.
  • The RBI (NBFCs – Compliance Function) Directions, 2026 expect "sufficient and representative compliance testing", reporting to senior management and the Board, and workflow tools with a unified view.
  • Much testing still runs on spreadsheets, small samples and manual evidence-gathering, which makes inspections and Board reporting effort-heavy.

What RegYantra aims to help with

  • Keep the applicable regulatory universe current, with every obligation linked to its para and a ready test.
  • Test more of the book with less effort – automated checks where data exists, guided samples and AI-assisted document review where it does not, with people making every conclusion.
  • Turn findings into fixes, with clear ownership, follow-up and accountability.
  • Make reporting to senior management, the Board and RBI simpler and better evidenced.
